Cloudburst Fire Buckets

Premier fire fighting device since 2005

Cloudburst Fire Buckets by IMS New Zealand are the preferred method of Aerial Fire Fighting for both Military and Civilian Operations worldwide. The Cloudburst Fire Buckets are very reliable, for example featuring a tough urethane-coated PVC construction, resistant to abrasion, impact, and high temperatures.

Key benefits

Multi-drop with Monsoon Valve as standard

Fast valve actuation speed

Easy to clean and re-use

The Cloudburst Firefighting Bucket is a thoroughly engineered aerial firefighting bucket where every detail has been designed with operational simplicity, reliability and flexibility in mind.

At the heart of the Cloudburst is the Monsoon Valve, supplied as standard across the bucket range. The valve provides true Multi-Drop capability, allowing the pilot or operator to divide a single load into several accurately controlled drops. This gives crews significantly more flexibility when working along a fire line, attacking multiple hotspots or distributing water over a larger area.

Another major operational advantage is the ability to release water after filling to achieve the desired load weight. Depending on aircraft performance, fuel load, altitude, temperature or other operational conditions, the crew can adjust the amount of water carried without physically modifying or reconfiguring the bucket. This makes it easier to adapt the load to the aircraft’s available performance at any given stage of the mission.

Cloudburst has a deliberately clean internal design, with no loose ropes or wires inside the bucket that can become tangled or interfere with filling and operation. Its construction allows the bucket to enter the water cleanly and makes dipping and refilling straightforward, even during demanding operations.

The rugged and reinforced bottom construction also makes Cloudburst particularly well suited for operations close to terrain. This can be a major advantage during low-level flushing operations, slope cleaning and other applications where the bucket may operate close to the ground.

Cloudburst can also be adapted to helicopters that are not permanently configured with the electrical systems normally required for bucket operations. For larger helicopters and other specialised applications, we can provide onboard cabin modules that supply the required electrical power and bucket controls without the need for a permanently installed aircraft-side system. Optional configurations can also incorporate foam additive capability, giving operators an integrated solution for missions where firefighting foam or additives are required.

The result is a firefighting bucket designed not only to carry and release water, but to provide the crew with greater control, flexibility and operational capability throughout the mission. Please click on the brochure for more information.
